The complex business world requires individuals to take on specific roles that relate to one area of the industry. Leading a group of employees to successfully complete a company project is a major part of working for a business. Students have three main schooling options that allow them to confidently step into a project management career.

Students will walk away from a degree program having the skills to fully coordinate a project and see that it is properly completed. Education teaches students to work directly with internal employees, external clients, and other companies by managing a project from conception to implementation. The knowledge needed to accurately handle job responsibilities can be earned through three different programs.

Bachelor’s in Project Management
This minimum educational requirement teaches students to be a vital part of a business by teaching them to take on the responsibility of a project. Students will have the skills needed to ensure the correct requirements, funds, and procedures are generated in order to complete a project. Students should expect to gain a broad understanding of management theory, accounting, quantitative procedure, marketing, and decision-making. Projects can be completed in a variety of ways from taking a business global to creating a new workable product. Schooling is designed to teach students to not only control all the phases of a project but also assess the risk factor. Master’s in Project Management
Students that continue education typically have the desire to enter leadership roles within their corporation. A master’s degree program advances the skill level of students, which opens more opportunities to work in areas like commerce, education, and information technology. Courses on strategy, management, and marketing problem solving teach students to utilize these aspects of the profession together to create a competitive edge in the global environment. Course topics train students to apply global concepts to project and market needs using different strategies. Other courses will include application development, technical communication, and quality assurance.

Graduate Certificate Program
Certificate programs are usually completed by students that are already working and don’t have the time to devote to a full master’s degree program. Four to five courses are taken that give students basic leadership skills that are applied to finishing a project and executing project assignments. The majority of students work while completing a certificate program. Education can be directly used in the workplace and courses can be applied to a master’s degree at a later time.

Controlling and overseeing projects within a business can be learned from many colleges that offer accredited degree programs in project management.
